I had one last decorating trick up my sleeve.
.
Several yards of this soft, sheer, crinkly gold material had been purchased the previous year at a thrift store for this year’s fall decorating.
(click on any picture to enlarge)
I simply folded the material in half lengthwise, and cut it in half.
This was repeated with the two pieces, so I had four long, narrow strips.
One piece was swagged along the top of my buffet with garland.
Another piece was swooshed along the bottom.
Recognize the flowers?
I still had some left over after making
wreaths for the front doors and
wreaths for the chairs.
Can you believe I am buying Avocado Green dishes?
When we got married, everything in our early apartments
and rented trailer home was green.
Toilets were green.
Sinks were green.
Linoleum was green.
Carpeting was green.
Stoves were green.
Fridges were green.
And somehow, just when all the Avocado green was finally removed from my life,
because we purchased homes with newer appliances,
I began missing it.
This particular green glassware looks amazing when the light shines through.
My buffet is now ready for Thanksgiving.
Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do in word or deed,
do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks
to God the Father through Him.
Hebrews 13:15
Therefore by Him let us continually offer
the sacrifice of praise to God,
that is, the fruit of our lips,
giving thanks
to His name.

but how we use them,
is the true measure of our thanksgiving.”

Thanksgiving isn’t just a holiday we celebrate with dry turkey
and the can-shaped cranberries nobody really likes. It is a state of heart, mind, body and soul that Christians should embrace.

I love all the decorating you've been doing. So pretty! This is the first year that I've really done any big decorating for Fall in a long time. It was fun and now I'm looking forward to Christmas decorating!Long ago, my kitchen was in orange, brown and avocado green, so I'm hearing ya!

I am so un-creative, I'm just amazed at the big differences a little 'swoop' here and swag there can make. Your decorations are gorgeous!! You make it sound so easy and simple. Great job.

Oh Mindy, you had a flood too! Then you can totally understand what we went through… and my heart sure goes out to you too!We waited 6 months before we actually gutted the kitchen. It was still somewhat functional even though it was a total loss. Oh but what a mess.We are so grateful to have it all behind us… but well aware that it could happen again. Thus the warning "turn off the main water valve"!! Ha!

Beautiful decorating :)Every Thanksgiving as I sit and feel so blessed I wonder how the unsaved world can ever cherish the day like we can? It gives me the great urge to try harder to share the good news of salvation. You're right, every day to a Believer needs to be lived with thanksgiving in our hearts.

Jill, the buffet is a "new" family heirloom from Craig's List. We don't have any family pieces from Scott's side of the family, and only a few from mine, so I wanted to make sure we had some beautiful family things to pass onto our kids for heirlooms. We live in a split level, but as soon as we put this in the dining room, it brought atmosphere and felt like heritage.

Don't forget the furniture was green too. I can remember my parents had this (can't say hideous- because I sort of do like it) green couch…ahh, and what time is dinner?? You're doing an amazing job… so creative.
