We all know this feeling.
We’re wedged in by trials and tribulations
and cannot escape.
We twist and squirm, but get scraped and wounded.
We can’t walk away, because this is our life, our family, or our job.
We can’t wiggle free, we’re bound to these circumstances.
We can’t make it go away.
We must stay in our circumstances between
a rock and a hard place.
Is this where you are?
You might wonder where the Lord is if
the boulders of tribulation have blocked your faith.
He’s much nearer than you believe.
Exodus 33:22
I will put you in the cleft of the rock
and cover you with My hand
until I have passed by.
Moses asked to see the Lord’s glory.
The Lord agreed to pass by,
but had to shield him from the full power
of His presence.
Moses had to be in the cleft of the rock
for the glory to be revealed.
What have you asked of the Lord?
To be like Him?
To know Him more completely?
To be conformed to His image?
To be used?
He’s answering your prayers
and will display His glory.
But, suffering and glory always walk hand-in-hand
through the Scriptures;
we can’t see His glory without suffering like Him.
We need those hard places in our lives.
And the rock scraping your elbows?
It isn’t any ol’ rock.
Psalms 95:1
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord!
Let us shout joyfully to the
Rock of our salvation.
Stop squirming, stop trying to escape.
You’re in between
The Rock and a hard place,
covered by His Hand.
Wait patiently, my friend.
His glory will be revealed.

Oh Mindy, this is for me, thank you Jesus. We were swimming today and my husband and I were crossing the river that flows out into the ocean and the sand was sinking in and I said to him, ‘When all around is sinking sand’ and my husband finished the line – ‘on Christ our solid rock we stand! I was like YES, Amen, Hallelujah! I know God is faithful in all situations and I was talking to my Heavenly Father today saying “I know I cannot see all that He is doing, but I trust Him and just need to walk in His rest.” It’s easier said than done when you feel the pain of every twist and turn, but His refiners fire can only change us from glory to glory, AMEN!!! Love you sister. xxx

Thank you I am in a crevasse and needed to here/read this today! I will move my eyes from the walls of the rock to the sky above and thank The Lord for where I am cause something good is going to happen!
Mindy says
Clarese, I loved your thought of looking up instead of at the walls of the rock. I hadn’t even thought about that, but yes, looking heavenward always brings joy. Even as I say that, though, I am sad to hear of your crevasse. I don’t like knowing people I love are hurting. Praying the Lord will give you endurance until He reveals His glory!

Of course the wonderful, old hymn, “Rock of Ages, Cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee….” pops into my head. Thank you for these encouraging thoughts.
Resting in Him.

I love what you wrote, “Moses had to be in the cleft of the rock
for the glory to be revealed.” This is soooo true. Great post as usual!
Mindy says
Thank you for your kindness, Jackie. May the Lord continue to encourage you and your family as you wait to see the fullness of His glory.

Thank you, my friend. I needed to be reminded of this again this morning, as I have gone from a cold to the flu and now to bed rest in lots of pain due to my back. It is good to be reminded that God has a plan even in my pain!
Mindy says
Most of these things I learned the hard way, and are reminding myself FIRST and foremost. However, I thank the Lord if it brings any encouragement to anybody else along the way! Still longing for your healing and recovery!

Me too, lol! I am actually looking forward to PT because I am hoping it will help me get back on my feet and moving again!
When we learn things through difficult times, it is then a blessing to be able to encourage others with the encouragement we received and with the hope that we had or lessons that we learned!
I forgot to thank you for linking up to Making Your Home Sing Monday!
