This was a homemade tract I picked up years ago.
I know a lot of homes don’t use the words “shut up”, but the rest of the tract is powerful.
Proverbs 18:8
The words of a gossip are like choice morsels;
they go down to the inmost parts.
Gossip goes down like food, and is digested and used by the body. It reminds me of a poster I stared at every lunchtime at Bryant Elementary. It had the outline of a child, but was filled in with pictures of fruit, cheese, vegetables, and a big ham bone. It said,
“You are what you eat.”
A little gossip also creates an appetite for more.
Proverbs 11:13
A gossip betrays a confidence,
but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.
Gossip shows weak spiritual character.
Proverbs 16:28
A perverse person stirs up conflict,
A perverse person stirs up conflict,
and a gossip separates close friends.
Gossip betrays the listener, the victim, and any who overhear.
Gossip changes relationships, not for the better.
Dictionary.com defines gossip as, “idle talk or rumor, especially about the personal or private affairs of others.”
As parents, we know we have an important job. Sometimes, we’re so big on the majors, like participating in Christian activities and not participating in non-Christian activities, that we forget the minors, or the things we would deem as minors.
The Lord equates the tongue to a rudder of a ship and the tiny spark that starts a fire.
The tongue is actually the most powerful muscle in our body, and how we train and use that muscle is crucial.
Stay tuned…..
we’re going to be discussing how we can get that rudder
to turn our ships into the right direction.
