and I could boast that the shelves were out of fans
in the stores we checked by Tuesday.
let’s take the average July temperature of my birthplace, Valley City, ND,
which is 81 degrees, and add the 28, that would make it 109 degrees.
Have I made my point?
It’s hot.
It’s really hot.
It is hot when you wake up, it is hot all day,
it’s hot in the shade, it’s hot in the cars,
it’s hot, hot, hot. I never knew ankles could sweat.
and trying to get cars to cool down in traffic on asphalt isn’t easy.We got creative in our ways of trying to beat the heat.
At the beginning of the week we were shocked with the temp registered by my mini-van.
Getting warmer….
Warmer….
Warmer….
Drinking Bubble Tea, a delicious Asian specialty.
Warmer…..
Poor little Brayden wanted to be held all the time, but it was so hard to hold a 98 degree baby when the internal temp of the house was around 90 and outside was 100.
Warmer…..
We finally filled the hot tub with water and the chemical, but didn’t heat it past 80.
Warmer….
First time my butter isn’t filled with crumbs and swipes of peanut butter,
then it had to go and melt into oblivion.
We lived on ice-cream bars and frozen fruit bars instead of toast.
We slept outside because the temp was night was in the cool 80’s.
Then, after days, the winds of change blow over the Olympic Mountains.
Fresh breezes made the 90’s seem cool.
Then 80’s,
then peace.
This morning, my house is only 73 degrees.
Finally cool enough to eat toast.
After breakfast, I have a travois full of tee-pees to wash.

Mindy, you should've stayed in the midwest a few weeks longer. We have topped out at 70 for the past week or so. This morning was 40 when we got up!! I think we've only used the AC about 4 days all summer. ALso, LOVE your blog!! It helps me stay connected with your family. And I really LOVE your pics 🙂

Man! That sounds awful!!! i would DIE. No AC??? Who is the baby? Are you a grandma already? (Your kids can NOT be grown up and married already are they?) You did the right thing by trying to keep cool and hydrated. Wow.

Oh my…. you poor people out there. We have your weather and wonder why we don't have to turn our AC on. Go figure, we all have the units out here and don't have to use them. The high is supposed to be 73 today which is UNHEARD of for August. Don't worry, we are sending our west coast people back this weekend and I've told them they brought the weather with them and sent ours to you. So you see? It should be cool again soon. 🙂 Not that I'm really looking forward to the heat… I kind of like living out the westcoast for a change.
